Issue Position: Parental School Choice

Issue Position

(a plank in the 2012 Texas Republican Party Platform)
- While it is not in the federal jurisdiction, I will do my best to influence the Texas Legislature to grant parents the choice, backed with some portion of taxpayer funding, to send their child to the school where they think their child has the best chance to learn, flourish, and succeed.
- Breaking up the current secular humanist taxpayer funded monopoly education system will spawn diversity and greater choice in education providers, improve the quality and results of education, and, in the long term, lower the cost to taxpayers. It will also give teachers many more viable options where they can practice their vocation in a safe and enjoyable environment.
